When I bought my HD800S, there were a bunch of recommendations to pair it with the HDV820 to correct some of the highs. I don't know if it really did that, since I have no basis for comparison, but I don't think I'll ever find out, because it's more amp than I need for anything ever.

Josh are you coming out with an Audeze mm-500 review any time soon? Was waiting to hear your review of those cans so I can decide between focal clear MG, Arya, LCD-x, or MM-500. Already have the original hifiman HE-500 and was looking to upgrade. Wanted something just as full, fun, and extensive in the bass region as the original he-500s with a little better treble balance and a little more forward in the vocal sound region (less airy). Want something that kills it in the treble and bass department. Been running them off the Hifiman EF5 Amp for the longest time but just ordered the magnuus-modius stack to power whatever headphones I get.

Will this or the EF400 pair well with the HD800s?
I debated a lot and got DX3 Pro+ as my first dedicated amp for my HD 6XX and Macbook Pro M1 Max 16 inch. If I A/B test that amp with the high impedance headphone amp of Mac, I really can’t find difference.
I kept the DX3 just because I was too lazy to return it.

This just makes dx3 pro+ seem more value for money. At 700usd you might aswell pay a little bit more for the k9 pro ess, it has 2xEs9038pro dacs and is more bang for buck

I would love to see a review of the Hifiman EF400. It seems to be a really interesting option at its price point and as it is using a Hifiman Dac Chip i think a review would be really helpful as not a lot of people have heard it
